Semaglutide may control food noise in your head
New research is presented at the annual meeting of the European Society for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in Vienna, Austria (15-19 September) shows that individuals who eat again for weight loss are testing less food noise than before.
Food noise indicates obsessive ideas and enters food and eating. This food preoccupation can hinder the implementation of a healthy lifestyle and lead to excessive eating, which makes losing weight difficult.
Previous research has found that 57 % of people who live with weight gain or obesity have suffered from food noise, although few of them are aware of the term. Many affected people said that food noise has made it difficult to make healthy food choices or stick to the exercise plan.
Some people also benefit that food noise affects the quality and well -being of their lives.
Bulpid -1 GLP -1 Glp -1 glucagon such as semaglutide (Wegovy and OzemPIC names) is very effective in helping people who live with obesity in weight loss. By simulating the work of a hormone called the GLP-1, it reduces appetite and feelings of hunger, slowing the release of food from the stomach and increasing feelings of fullness after eating.
However, it is not much known about how Semaglutide, developed by the Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk A/S, affects food noise.
To find out more, researchers from Novo Nordisk and Market Track LLC, a market research company, conducted a survey that included 550 people in the United States (average age of 53 years, 86 % of females) who were taking weight again.
About 81 % (447) participants said they were taking a second for at least four months and 86 % of the participants was at least 92 kg (14 pounds) before the start of treatment.
Participants were asked how food noise affects them and remember how they affected them before starting treatment.
The results analysis showed that the participants were suffering from less food noise than before.
The percentage of participants with persistent ideas around the food throughout the day has decreased by nearly four times from 62 % before starting treatment to 16 %. The percentage they said they spent a lot of time to think about food, a similar amount, from 63 % to 15 %.
The percentage, which she said, had irreplaceable ideas around food more than three times from 53 % to 15 %; The percentage that their thoughts about food had negative effects on them or their lives fell from 60 % to 20 %; The percentage whose ideas about food said about completing daily activities decreased from 47 % to 15 %.
The survey also contained questions that covered several areas of mental well -being.
Here, he reached 352 (64 %), 417 (76 %) and 438 (80 %) of those who respond to an improvement in mental health, self -confidence and developing healthy habits, respectively.
It is not known whether these improvements are linked to low food noise or weight loss.
The authors of the study conclude that the semulesid may reduce the amount of food noise that individuals who live with obesity suffer.
