Scientists finally reveal beyond the mysterious brain fog in Long Kofid

Although many years have passed since the beginning of the Covid-19s, the effects of infection with SARS-COV-2 are not fully understood. This is particularly applied to long Covid, a chronic condition that can develop after Covid-19 that causes a variety of permanent symptoms. Among the most common and delusional of this cognitive weakness is often referred to as “brain fog”, which affects more than 80 % of people with long coffee. Looking at hundreds of millions of global cases, Covid represents a tremendous challenge for public, social and economic health, which strongly affects people’s ability to work and perform daily activities.

Unfortunately, despite its spread, the reasons behind the long and brain fog remains incomprehensible. Previous photography studies have shown some structural changes in the brain, but they could not determine the molecular defect responsible for cognitive symptoms. Since it is difficult to monitor the molecules that govern communication between brain cells directly, researchers are left without objective biomed indicators to confirm a long diagnosis or develop treatments.

To face this challenge, a research team led by Professor Takoya Takahashi of the University of Yokohama City University, Japan, has a great boom in understanding the cause of the long brain fog. As shown in their paper, published in Brain contacts On October 1, 2025, the team assumed that patients with brain fog may show an expression of the expression of ampara receptors (ampars) – the main molecules of memory and learning – based on prior research in mental and neurological disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and Dementia. Thus, they used a new method called (11C) K-2 ampar Pet Photography to visualize directly and measure the density of Ampars in the live human brain.

By comparing photography data from 30 patients suffering from long Covid to 80 healthy people, researchers have found a significant and wide -range increase in Ampars’s density through patients with patients. This intensity of high receptors was associated directly with the severity of their cognitive weakness, indicating a clear link between these molecular changes and symptoms. In addition, the concentrations of various inflammatory signs were also associated with ampar levels, indicating a potential interaction between inflammation and receptors.

Combated, the results of the study are a decisive step forward in addressing many issues that have not been resolved in relation to the long Covid. The systematic increase in ampars provides a direct biological interpretation of cognitive symptoms, highlighting a goal for potential treatments. For example, medications that suppress Ampar’s activity can be an applicable method to relieve brain fog. Interestingly, the team analysis also showed that photography data can be used to distinguish patients from health controls with 100 % allergy and 91 % privacy. “Through the new AMPA application technology, we aim to provide a new perspective and innovative solutions to the remarkable medical challenge that is long long,Professor Takahashi’s notes.

Although more efforts are needed to find a final solution for Long Covid, this work is a promising step in the right direction. “The results we find clearly show that the long long brain fog should be identified as a legal clinical condition. This can encourage the healthcare industry to accelerate the development of diagnostic and therapeutic methods of this disorderProfessor Takahashi is saved.

In short, the team’s results solve the main uncertainty about the biological basis for long brain fog and may pave the way for new diagnostic tools and effective treatments for patients with this condition.
