Red Red Fetal: Let’s disintegrate By TBMP posts | August 2025
The red fetus, also known as the fetus and newborn disease (HDFN), is a condition that can affect children in the womb. This happens when the mother’s immune system interacts with the child’s red blood cells and tries to destroy them.
What causes this?
This condition often occurs when the mother has a different type of blood from the child, specifically when the RH and the child are positive. During pregnancy or childbirth, some positive red blood cells of the RH can leak into the mother’s bloodstream, causing immunosuppressive bodies against the RH worker. These antibodies can cross the placenta and attack the red blood cells of the child.
What can make a mistake?
If left without treatment, the red embryos can lead to serious complications for the child, including:
Anemia: the number of low red blood cells
Jaundice: High bilirubin levels, which can cause yellowing of the skin and eyes
– The spleen or liver
Heart problems
How is it prevented and treated?
To prevent the red fetus, RH (RHIG) negative mothers are given during pregnancy and after birth. This drug helps prevent the mother’s immune system from responding to the positive red blood cells of the child.
If the condition is discovered during pregnancy, doctors may closely monitor the child’s condition and consider interventions such as:
– Blood transfusion operations: giving child blood transfusion while still in the womb
Early delivery: delivery of the child prematurely if necessary
Therefore, it is important for couples suffering from a reception before reproduction.
