How to feed drought secretly to health and health problems
Drinking very little water can increase our lack of severity of health issues related to stress, according to a new study of scientists in Ljmu.
People who drink less than the recommended daily fluid suffer from a greater stress hormone response, which is associated with increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and depression.
A new study, recently published in Applied Physiology MagazineI found that individuals who drank less than 1.5 liters of fluids – or seven cups of tea – one day have a response to cortisol to stress that was above 50 % of those who met with daily water intake recommendations.
“The cortisol is associated with the main stress hormone in the body and the exaggerated cortisol interaction with stress increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes and depression,” said the lead Professor Neil Walsh, a physiological scientist at the Faculty of Sports and Exercise at LJMU.
“If you know that you have a final date waving on the horizon or a speech, keeping a bottle of water may be a good habit with possible benefits for your long -term health.”
Long -term health
Through the project funded by Danone R& I, Neil and his team divided healthy youth into two groups equally, which represents the lowest and 25 % higher for eating daily fluids. The “low fluid” group consists of individuals who usually drink less than 1.5 liters of fluids per day (water, hot drinks, etc.). The “High Liquid” group included individuals who regularly met recommendations for daily water intake – 2 liters for women and 2.5 liters for men. Both groups are matched with the main factors known to influence stress responses such as psychological properties and sleep.
Participants maintained the usual drinking habits for one week, during which moisturizing levels in blood and urine samples were monitored. Then the participants underwent a test of social tension, which is widely used to simulate stress in the real world through a fake work interview and a mental mathematical task.
“Both groups were anxiously anxious and witnessed similar increases in the heart rate during the stress test. However, the” low fluid “group showed only a significant increase in the salivary cortisol in response to the stress test.”
He added: “Although the low liquid group did not report that it is more thirsty than the high fluid group, it had darker and more concentrated urine, and clear signs of mismanagement. It was an important note that the hydration of moisture was associated with the interaction of the largest cortisol in the stress test. The interaction of the exaggerated cortisol was associated with bad -term stress in the long run.”
“If you have an exhausting time schedule, it may be to keep a bottle of water usually a good habit.”

Why dehydration is harmful?
The answer to the body regulating system in the body, which is closely related to the center of stress response in the brain. When the body senses dryness, whether due to insufficient fluid or excessive fluid loss, it leads to the release of a hormone called vosoprisin. Vasopressin mainly works on the kidneys, which enhances water reupting to maintain the blood volume and balance of electrolyte. This memorization mechanism comes at a cost. The launch of Vasoprisin continuously puts additional pressure on the kidneys, which should work harder for urine concentration and electrolyte balance management.
Vasoprissine also works on the center of stress response in the brain, which is under the hypothalamus, as it can affect the release of cortisol. This dual role of Fassoprissin helps maintain the volume of blood and balance electrolyte, but also increases the cortisol.
The researchers say that although the need for more long-term studies, the results enhance the recommendations of current water intake-approximately 2 liters of fluid each day for women and 2.5 liters for men.
Moisturizing helps us to manage stress
Dr. Kashi added: “You may help you wet more effective stress.” One of the practical ways to check the moisturizing condition is to monitor urine color – light yellow usually indicates good moisture.
“If you know, for example, you have a stressful schedule, perhaps the deadline that is looming on the horizon or a speech, it may be to keep a bottle of water usually with possible benefits for your long -term health.”
