Daily eye drops can make reading glasses outdated

Everyone develops with their age – difficulty focusing on nearby things and the near text – and they often have to resort to reading glasses. However, the solution may be simple as using private eye drops two or three times a day.

A retrospective study of 766 patients presented on September 14th in 43road The European Conservatory of Escrs (1) (1) has found that the majority can read two, three or more additional lines on the eye scheme used for testing near vision (Jaeger) after using specially made eye drops. This improvement has been preserved for up to two years.

“We conducted this research due to the uncommon medical need in prenatal management. Current solutions such as reading or surgical interventions have restrictions, including inconvenience, social discomfort, potential risks or consensus. Candidates for surgery,” said Argentina, Argentina, Argentina.

Eye drops, developed by the father of Dr. Pinozi, the late Dr. Khorkhi Pinozi from the same center, contain a mixture of active factors: bilocarin, a drug that restricts students and shrinks the ciliary muscles, which does not control the muscles (inflammation and discomfort caused by bilocarin.

Patients run the eye drops twice a day, usually when waking up and again after about six hours, with an optional third dose if an additional visual comfort is needed. A group of patients (373 women and 393 men, with an average age of 55) were divided into three groups to receive one of three eye drops. Each formula had a fixed dose of diclofenac, but Pilocarpine concentrations were 1 %, 2 % and 3 %.

The researchers evaluated the improvement in the extent of patients’ ability to read the Jaeger chart without reading glasses (unacceptable near vision) one hour after the first administration of the drops, and followed the patients for two years.

“Our most important results showed rapid and sustainable improvements in the near vision of all three concentrations. One hour after obtaining the first decrease, patients had improving an average of 3.45 GIPs. The treatment also improved at all distances,” Dr. Pinozi said to Congress.

“Impressively, 99 % of 148 patients in the Pelocarin Group by 1 % to the optimum close vision and have been able to read two or more lines. About 83 % of all patients have kept a good career vision in 12 months. There are no major negative events such as increased intraocular pressure or decrease in the retina.”

In the 2 % group, 69 % of 248 patients have read three or more additional lines on the Jaeger chart, and in the group by 3 %, 84 % of 370 patients can be read three or more of the additional lines.

The improvement in the vision of patients has continued for up to two years, with an average of 434 days. The harmful side effects were moderate, as the dim vision was the most common, which occurred in 32 % of cases, irritation when the drops were planted (3.7 %) and headache (3.8 %). No patients were stopped.

The common side effects of the common side can also include red eye, water eyes, unclear vision, dim vision or dark, sensitivity to light or problems changing the focus between things, vision of flashes of light or “buoys” in vision, and in rare cases, separate retainings.

Dr. Pinozi continued: “Almost all patients have experienced positive vision improvements, although the volume of improvement depends on their vision before treatment in the first place. Our study revealed that optimal bilocarin can be individual by the advanced patient, or what requires more than focusing on precedent, or increasing the focus on the lanes, or what increases concentration on the sake. 3 %. Concentrations to achieve a significant optical improvement.

She concluded that “these results indicate that this compound treatment provides a safe, effective and well -gigaed alternative to the management of traditional sheikhdoms. It greatly reduces dependence on reading glasses, which provides a suitable and non -invisible option for patients, although these drops may not eliminate the need for glasses in all individuals.

“More importantly, this treatment does not aim to replace surgical interventions, but rather a valuable solution for patients who need safe, effective and personal alternatives and seek to be free from disturbing glasses. They now have an evidence -based drug option that expands the seven care spectrum and surgery.”

In addition to a group of patients in this study, Dr. Pinozi has other patients who have received treatment for more than ten years. Dr. Pinozi plans for more research to measure improvements in the quality of patients ’life, and to explore the basic physiological mechanisms of eye drops.

The strengths of the study include the large number of patients covered and long follow -up. This is the first systematic evaluation that compares three different concentrations of bilocarin in a combination with diclofenac. The registration is that it is a retroactive effect, which can limit the generalization of results and provide a selection bias.

Professor Burkhard Dick, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Bachum Hospital, Germany, did not participate in the research, President -elect ESCRS, Professor Burkhard Dick, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Al -Boshoum University Hospital, Germany. He commented: “Although surgery for a losing near -age loss has evolved, some patients are not candidates. The study retroactively by Dr. Pinozi indicates that eye drops containing pilocarpine and Diclofenac may sometimes improve vision, and the limited design may not apply to anyone. In rare cases, separation from retinal retina may form. While the use of long topical anti -inflammatory in the corneal risks.
