“We have found that DMT greatly reduced the size of the infarction and formation of edema in the mice stroke model,” the co -author Marcel Laszlo explains. In both animal experiments and cell culture models, the authors showed that the DMT treatment has regained the structure and function of the bloodshed blood barrier and improving the function of astronomical cells. This psychological compound also prevents the production of inflammatory cytokines in the stroke cells and peripheral immune cells, while reducing the stimulation of microorgan cells in the brain through Sigma-1 receptors.

DMT can be a therapeutic assistant for current stroke treatments

“The therapeutic options are currently available for stroke very limited,” says Judit Vig, the author of the work.

Since current stroke treatments do not always lead to complete recovery, the treatment based on DMT may represent a new promising alternative, especially with current methods. The latest results of researchers in Szeged and Budapest support, Hungary, the development of treatment that exceeds the limits of traditional stroke treatment.
